RAWHIDE EXPERIENCE PROGRAM 2024
Requirements for the REP Program
Details of the REP Program
Goal of the REP Program
The goal is for each participant to grow in proficiency and competency in a particular aspect of Rawhide’s program while further developing their people skills that can be added to a resume for future school or work-related endeavors.
Application Process
We encourage all those with initiative, a positive work ethic, and ready for the challenge of leadership to apply. All applicants are chosen based on a variety of factors including merit and ability. No one is guaranteed a position. Forms can be downloaded. Application and all references are due by March 12th.
Applicants will be notified by mid-May of their status in the program after all interviews have been completed. Unfortunately, we have a limited number of spaces in our program so not all who apply are accepted. We are looking for applicants with a strong interest in personal growth and giving back to the Rawhide community. All those invited to participate should understand the opportunity is a privilege and approach it with a sense of responsibility, enthusiasm, and commitment.
Requirements for the REP Program
- Must have finished their junior year of high school and/or be 17 years old.
- The program officially starts with an orientation from the evening of June 5th to June 7th. The only exception for missing this important block of time would be due to a school conflict.
- The program will continue from June 9th to July 5th. Participants must be able to attend all four sessions (1-4). These dates are NOT flexible, and applicants must be available the entire four weeks without interruption.
- The fee for the REP program is $1,079 total ($299 of this fee is non-refundable if one cancels prior to the start of the program).
- Anyone successfully completing the program (as determined by Rawhide staff) will receive a full refund of $1,079.
- Based on Rawhide’s need, successful completion of the program makes one eligible for Jr. Staff over sessions 5, 6, 7, 8 and/or 9.
- Must be prepared to serve others while taking on an active leadership role at camp.
Details of the REP Program
- Learn by doing in a safe environment.
- Half the day will be spent in an area of specialization (horsemanship, animal science, or camp recreation program) based on interest with Rawhide staff making the final selection.
- Designated REP time for reading, completing assignments, and group discussions.
- Assigned to a counselor and cabin of campers for two weeks. Time will be spent living and shadowing during meals, free time, coffee breaks and evening activities with the goal of further developing leadership skills while role modeling C.H.I.R.P.
- Help make the Show a safe and rewarding experience for our campers, rather than participating for their own benefit.
- Promote and maintain the recycling program.
- Evaluations and/or debrief sessions for the purpose of learning personal strengths and to set tangible goals for growth opportunities.
- Time off provided every Friday evening after all camp clean up at approximately 4:00 p.m. to Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Participants are required to leave the ranch for some needed rest and relaxation due to their demanding schedule, the elevated level of expectation placed on them, and their lack of free time during the week.
