Frequently Asked Questions...

Is Rawhide Ranch open to the public or for visitors?
Unfortunately, we are not open to the public.  We run camps year-round and for the safety of the campers, we do not allow outside visitors on to the Ranch.

Does Rawhide Ranch offer Trail Rides, Day Visits, Birthday Parties, or other Special Events?
We do not offer trail rides or single day visits at this time.  All of the riding classes here are done in one of our controlled arenas.

While we have had events held here previously, our calendar doesn't typically allow for it since we run camp year round.  But if you are interested in having an event here, please feel free to email [email protected] to tell us a little bit about what you are looking for, and when.

Does Rawhide Ranch have a Lost & Found?
Yes, we do!  If you are missing an item, please email us at [email protected] with a description of the item, the camp dates, and the name of the camper.  We will then notify you if we have located the item.  If you request an item to be returned, you will be responsible for return postage costs.

All lost and found is held for two weeks past the end date of each camp/session.  It is then donated to a charitable organization or disposed of.  Before donating/disposing, we check our list of items people have inquired about to make sure we are not getting rid of anything that someone is looking for.

Rawhide Ranch is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items.

To help prevent loss and ensure recovery when possible, please leave expensive or irreplaceable items at home.  Avoid sending your child with their favorite clothing or items.  Label all items and bags clearly with your child’s full name.

Please remember, we are a working ranch with many animals & outdoor activities.  Items may get dirty, broken, or misplaced.  If you'd hate to lose it, please leave it at home!

What is your Cancellation/Refund Policy?

How do you screen your camp counselors?
We are highly selective in our hiring process.  All of our applicants go through a rigorous application and screening process, which includes but is not limited to:

  1. Checking of all references
  2. SSN Verification & Address History
  3. National Criminal Database Search
  4. National Sex Offender Registry Search
  5. State Sex Offender Registry Search
  6. Live Scan Fingerprinting (for information on Live Scan fingerprinting, click HERE)

What is your camper to counselor ratio?
  • Ages 7-8, no more than 8 campers per counselor.
  • Ages 9-15, no more than 10 campers per counselor.

Can campers who are coming for multiple sessions stay at Rawhide between their scheduled sessions?
Unfortunately not.  We do not offer a stay-over option for campers who are signed up for multiple sessions.  All campers must depart camp on the end date and arrive on the scheduled start date.

How much spending money should I send with my camper?
Daily "coffee breaks" give campers time to relax, have a cool drink or snack & visit our camp store.  The amount of spending money they'll need will depend on which camp they are coming to.

If they are coming for just a couple of days (Girl Scout, School groups, etc...) we would suggest around $20-$30 (cash only).

If they are coming to Overnight Summer Camp or Winter Camp (weeklong camps), then we typically suggest around $50-$60 for the week.  "Pony Bucks" are the currency of choice during each camper’s visit during Summer and Winter Camp.

If they are coming to Day Camp, we suggest about $10 per day, mas.  It's a good idea to load a little each day, so they have a limit each day.  The Sweet Shop and Country Store will be open a couple times a day for campers ages 7 & up.  For campers ages 5 to 6, only the Sweet Shop will be open.

For more info on our new cashless Pony Bucks system:
Please refer to the "Parent's Guide" for more information.  You may download the Parent's Guide from this page (Parent's Corral).

Can I request a cabin mate for my camper?
Yes.  Upon registration, you are welcome to list a 1st choice Cabin Mate request as well as an alternate choice, should your 1st choice not be available.  To ensure your camper and the cabin mate they requested are together, each buddy should request each other.  Campers are bunked by age, so cabin mates need to be close in age (within one year).  All campers will be placed in to cabin groups according to birth gender.

We are not able to accommodate group requests.  Campers are limited to TWO requests each.

Program groups will be pre-assigned based on bunkmate requests and cabin assignments.
