Application Process

The following process will be used in the hiring of all staff members for Rawhide Ranch. This application process is designed to be thorough but fair. We strive to get the best possible picture of who you are, your background, and most importantly your commitment to serving youth. It is not meant to be overly invasive into your life but we do need to know who you are. By submitting your application you are telling us that it’s okay for us to look into what makes you, you. It is important that you read through this information before you apply so that you know the process.

1. Submit your application. You may complete the application here and submit it via the internet.

2. Your application will be reviewed by the appropriate staff leader.

3. One of our staff will contact you for an interview. If possible we would like to do this in person at the Ranch. This will help you see the facilities and operations and for you and us to see if we want to continue the process. If this is not practical we will interview by phone.

4. Once we get to know each other through the interview and we both agree that the Ranch may a good fit for both of us, we will complete the following background checks. We will check your references, and social networking sites such as My Space and Facebook. If these check out we will contact you and offer you a pending position.

The pending position will be finalized based on the result of two background checks. The first will be completed before camp using your name, address, date of birth and Social Security number.

The second will be conducted at camp once you arrive. On the first day of staff training you will be fingerprinted and a background check based on your fingerprints will be completed.

Both these will check for any criminal and civil situations you may have been involved in that have reached the courts. Once both these checks have been completed and clear your employment is finalized. If we do find something that is what we consider inappropriate in either check your employment may be terminated.

Now speaking honestly, if you have had serious issues in your life that will show on your record you may want to reconsider your application, as we will take those into consideration. However if there are mitigating circumstances or the offenses are minor they may not be a roadblock to employment.

Drug/alcohol Testing

We will not be conducting drug/alcohol testing as part of the application process. However we will do both random and non-random testing during your employment if we feel it necessary. You can be terminated if the result of a drug/alcohol test confirms inappropriate use.

Tattoos, and Piercings

Our policies in these areas are pretty simple.

Tattoos that are visible must not contain depictions of nudity, violence, sexual activities, gang signs or anything else that the parent(s) of our campers might object to. We reserve the right not to hire someone based on the amount, and type of tattooing.

Piercings that are visible must not have any hoop type rings or any other types that will draw attention to them. All piercing in anything but the ears must have the smallest possible spacer. No lip, nose, tongue, eyebrow or other visible area will have easily seen rings in them. We will ask you to remove and/or replace any visible piercing we feel inappropriate for the duration of your employment. We reserve the right not to hire someone based on the amount, and type of piercing.
