Health
Care Administrator/Registered Nurse Qualifications:
At minimum,
applicants must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in
the state of California. Applicants with current RN licensure in other
states or equivalent licensure in another country, will be assisted with
and reimbursed for any fees associated with application to the California
State Nursing Board. Licensed LPNs/EMTs/Advanced
First Aid can fill the second spot for any session
Availability: Summer
session at Rawhide Ranch runs from June 8 until August 23, 2008 with
weekly camp sessions beginning June 15, 2008. Staff orientation begins
June 8, 2008 and runs until June 14, 2008

Duties:
Prior to the opening of camp sessions, the Health Care Administrator (HCA)
will be responsible for: readying the Health Lodge, reviewing camp Health
Policies and Procedures, ensuring that all arriving seasonal staff have
complete health forms with current physicals and presenting a Staff Health
Orientation.
- Readying the Health
Lodge:
Ensuring there are adequate supplies of all stocks for the summer and
working with maintenance to ensure all facilities and equipment are
in proper working order.
- Reviewing Camp
Health Policies and Procedures:
Making any updates necessary to the Health Lodge Manual and approving,
in writing, the policies for the seasonal year.
- Health Forms:
Performing a basic health screening and collecting all seasonal staff
Health History and Examination Forms with verification of a current
physical (within the past 24 months).
- Staff Health Orientation:
Preparation of material to be covered during Staff Orientation week
pertaining to basic health, first aid and OSHA/bodily fluids/pathogens.
Upon the opening of camp sessions, the Health Care Administrator will
be responsible for: check-in and check-out duties, relevant paperwork,
health screenings and daily medications and sick-calls.
- Check-In Duties:
Collection of all medications brought to camp and completion, with parents,
of a Medication Administration and Health Screening Form; completion
and distribution of counselor information forms with any medical alert
information pertinent to their camper-care duties.
- Check-Out Duties:
Return of all medications to parents and end-of-week Health Lodge cleaning.
- Paperwork:
Collection and storage of all Camper Health History and Examination
forms, with follow-up on all incomplete forms.
- Health Screenings:
Perform a health screen on each camper arriving at camp to assess for
any changes or updates to information provided in the Health History
and Examination Form and to ensure campers are free of communicable
disease.
- Daily Medications:
Supervision and distribution of daily scheduled and "as needed" medications
and maintenance of accurate records per each camper's medication record
sheet.
- Sick-Calls:
Seeing to the health needs and concerns of campers or staff presented
to the Health Lodge for care. Maintaining accurate Health Log notations
of all care provided.
Salary:
To be negotiated per contract period. Generally $650 - $700 per
week or we will trade one week of camp for one of your child for
one week of Nursing.
