start your day on the farm? Well, we don’t have a rooster, but
we sure do have a farm and a set-up just for your inner farmer spirit. Come
be a part of the authentic farm life. Collect freshly laid eggs for breakfast,
predict the weather for the day, plant and harvest your own crops, herd sheep
with your ranch dog, make your own soap from fresh goat’s milk, tend
to farm animals, learn the basics of tracking, become a blacksmith and design
your very own brand… come live the Farm Life at
Rawhide.
*For returning campers who have completed one (or more) ranks
(i.e. A-team
or B-team, Buckaroo, Wrangler, etc.) participation in a super-sized elective
may limit your participation in your special classes for your rank.
The week of August 17-23 will feature a totally new
camp session here at Rawhide Ranch!
Intensive Horsemanship Camp (IHC)
(Coed, ages 10-15 only)**
Come one, come all! It’s the experience you have all been asking
for… come get chest deep into the horse experience!
I’m
tellin’ ya;’ by the end of this week you will have horses coming
out of your ears. Covering as many aspects of the equine field that we
can possibly fit in to one week’s time, we have our traditional “western
riding”, gymkhana, grooming and tack, pony games, horse and pony animal
care time, showmanship, driver’s ed., vaulting, horse training, learning
about pack horses for excursions, and guest speakers with demonstrations - horse
veterinarian, Ferrier and horse behaviorist.
Classes are longer and you
have the opportunity to create your schedule so that you do not go a single
class without the company of a horse or pony. And if you need a break,
you have the option during elective time to cool off in the pool, write about
your awesome experience for the camp newspaper, dance it up to some good ol’ country
or be a star on stage in drama class. It’ll be great, come join
the fun. Yeehaw!
**Camper age requirements for this session is not based on horsemanship skill
level. Min. age will be 10 years of age for this session. Note:
No testing for or working toward camp ranks will be available during the IHC
camp session. |
